Abstract

1439460 Tamper-proof closures PARSONS BROS Ltd 19 June 1973 [19 July 1972] 33673/72 Heading B8T [Also in Division B6] A tamper-proof closure, comprising a cap 16 and a catch ring 18 having a plurality of tabs 36 located adjacent weakened portions 30, is used for closing a container 14 which has one or more teeth or recesses 21 enabling projections 28 on the inner-side-wall of the catch ring 18 to become locked when the cap is screwed on along with the ring 18. In this position the projections extend through spaces 26 between lugs 24 on the cap 16, and a rib 37 on the ring engages grooves 24A. The cap, ring and container may be of plastics material or of metal, e.g. tin plate. To take the closure off the container 14 the catch ring 18 is removed by pulling the tab 36, thereby breaking the weakened portion 30 and allowing the cap 16 to be unscrewed.
