1435321 Tensioning flexible printing plates ROLAND OFFSETMASCHINENFABRIK FABER & SCHLEICHER AG 27 April 1973 [27 April 1972] 20212/73 Heading B6C An end of a flexible printing plate 1 is received between a pair of pivoted jaws 17, 18, which are separated and closed by movement about a common axis to clamp the plate end, then moved together about the same axis to tension the plate. Several pairs of jaws may be arranged along a gap in a plate cylinder, and may be actuated from one end or some from one end and the rest from the other end of the cylinder to permit simultaneous use of multiple printing plates. The jaw pairs are movable along the gap. Two pairs of jaws may be separated by a third pair, of smaller extension along the gap, which can be coupled to either of the longer pairs to enable them to accommodate printing plates of more than one width.
