1429566 Joints between tubes and headers MARSTON RADIATORS Ltd 20 June 1974 [23 July 1973] 34906/73 Heading F2G A joint between a tube 9 and a tube plate 4 comprises an elastomeric gasket 5 having an upwardly and a downwardly extending tubular flange portion, the latter locating inside an aperture enclosed by a downwardly extending flange 10 of the tube plate, being retained by a radially inwardly directed lip 16 which engages the wall 13 of the pipe in metal-to-metal contact. The joint is formed by a radial expansion of at least the portion of the tube enclosed by the flange of the tube plate. A second embodiment of the joint has a further axially extending portion of the flange tip 16 in contact with the pipe to provide an enlarged contact area.
