Abstract
1428114 Racks MODERN METHODS & MATERIALS Ltd 4 July 1973 [6 July 1972] 31728/72 Heading A4H [Also in Division F2] A shoe rack or similar piece of furniture consists of upright members 10 supporting a series of transverse members 14, 16, 18 having at their ends resilient hook formations 22 which are inserted into socket formations 30 each constituted by a pair of spaced elements forming apertures of unlike size which define a predetermined degree of taper which is more gradual than that of the hook formations prior to insertion, so that upon insertion the hooks are held tightly in the socket formations. The shoe rack shown has uprights formed from wire each carrying three socket formations 30, each formation consisting of two lengths of wire bent as shown so that each wire provides a socket defining portion at each of its upper and lower ends. The unlike spacings of the upper and lower ends of the two wires defines a taper such that resilient hook portion 22 of each end of each of the transverse members 14, 16, 18 fits tightly in the corresponding socket formation. Each of the members 14, 16, 18 is provided with shoe supports 20 and is formed from wire as shown.
