Abstract

1425404 Developing electrostatic images VARIAN ASSOCIATES 27 April 1973 [1 May 1972] 20231/73 Heading G2H Electrostatic latent images on web 12 are developed by toner particles, suspended in a liquid supplied to the web in at least two stages, with an intermediate removal, so that development is not slowed by toner depletion. Toner-bearing liquid developer is supplied by slot 24, and forms a film 41 on the web, then is scraped off by edge 26 and replaced by further liquid from slot 28, which forms a second film 43 until it is removed by roller 44. Surplus developer, and that removed by the edge and roller, collects in pan 48, and is recirculated.
