Abstract

1423773 Stays J T KERN 21 Jan 1974 [20 Jan 1973] 3050/73 Heading E2F An adjustable stay comprises a rotatable member 6 having a bore 7 whose longitudinal axis is perpendicular to the rotational axis of the member 6 and part of whose wall is open to the outside of the member, e.g. to the side or top of member 6, and a stay bar 3 having one end articulated to a base 4 and whose cross section is elliptical such that when the stay bar is rotated about its longitudinal axis it will lock itself within the bore 7, the stay bar 3 or bore 7 having knurling, e.g. 17, to aid the gripping of the stay bar in the bore. The articulated joint between the stay bar and base comprises a ball 12 mounted in a bore of a tapered part 10 attached to the base 4. An extension 13 on the ball 12 extends through a side opening 11 in the part 10 into a bore in the stay bar. A locking ring 19 is slidably mounted on the stay bar and may be locked in any desired position along the length of the stay bar to prevent opening of the window beyond a desired point. Reference has been directed by the comptroller to Specification 1110454.
