Abstract

In an adjustable shoot bolt assembly for a door or window comprising a bolt formed by a bolt end member 7 which is screwed to a bolt rod 6 so that the overall length of the bolt can be adjusted, a throwing mechanism 3 to which the bolt rod 6 is attached and which is operable to advance and retract the bolt, and a guide member 8 which is intended to be fixed to the door or window and through which the bolt end member 7 is designed to slide as the bolt is advanced and retracted, the bolt end member 7 is maintained in its adjusted position on the bolt rod 6 by providing the end member 7 with a non-circular cross-section 13 over at least a portion of its length and providing the guide member 8 with a corresponding non-circular hole 2 which cooperates with the non-circular cross-section 13 of the end member to prevent rotation of the member 7. <IMAGE>
