Abstract

1413465 Crane support structures MANITOWOC CO Inc 28 June 1974 [30 Aug 1973] 28842/74 Heading B8B [Also in Division B7] A support structure for a crane having an upper structure (11), Fig. 1 (not shown), mounted for rotation on a car body 12 with crawler assemblies 14 for moving the crane over the ground, comprises a pair of support beams 16, 17 secured to the car body 12, a track-like ring 15 secured to the beams 16, 17 and horizontally surrounding the car body 12 and a plurality of ring support arms 21 pivoted for vertical movement on the car body 12 and extending outwardly to underlie the ring 15, each arm 21 having a lug 23 to prevent the arm 21 swinging away from the ring 15 and a jack 22 at the end of the arm 21. The jacks 22 are sized so as to engage the ground when extended and lift the ring 15, the car body 12 and the crawler assemblies 14 from the ground. To facilitate setting up the ring 15 hydraulic jacks 31 are mounted at the four ends of the support beams 16, 17. Manipulation of these jacks 31 allows the ring 15 to be lifted and levelled, whereupon the manual jacks 22 can be extended to provide firm support for the ring 15.
