Abstract

1413109 Hydrostatic transmission control RENOLD Ltd 7 Dec 1972 [9 Dec 1971 7 March 1972] 57161/72 and 10463/72 Heading F2W [Also in Division F1] An hydraulic system comprises a variable delivery pump P connected in a closed loop 153, 154 with a radial cylinder rotary cylinder block motor M, the motor, Fig. 1, having at least two rows of cylinders and a valve 102 movable to cut off the pump supply to at least one cylinder row. A manually or solenoid operated valve S is operated when it is required to re-position the valve 102. In Fig. 1 the valve 102 is shown urged to the left by supply pressure in a tube 103, a space 150 being connected to a booster pump B through a tube 101, 101a, 101d, the valve S and a conduit 155. Changeover of the valve S directs pump pressure through a non- return valve 162 to the space 150, whereby the valve 102 moves rightwards and connects the lefthand row of cylinders to exhaust 13a. In a modification, Fig. 3 and 6 (not shown), the pistons in an unpressurised row of cylinders are forced radially inwards out of contact with the surrounding cam ring by fluid pressure directed by the valve S to a chamber (100).
