Abstract

1382764 Hydraulic reciprocating motors POCLAIN 12 Feb 1973 [24 Feb 1972] 6719/73 Heading F1A A fluid operated motor system for reciprocating a load 6 comprises a piston 2 slidable in a cylinder and defining therewith a working chamber 5, and a rotary or sliding distributing valve 13 driven by a fluid actuated rotary motor 18 and operable to connect the working chamber 5 alternately to a pressure supply 10 and a reservoir 9. The pressure supply 10 may be, as shown, a pump or alternatively a pressure accumulator (236). The output from the pump 10 also provides, via a line 12, 19, the supply for driving the motor 18 and for returning the piston 2 on changeover of the valve 13. A fixed or adjustable restriction 21 is disposed in the line 12 to control the speed of the motor 18. Fluid exhausting from the motor 18 is maintained at a certain pressure by a valve 22, this pressure being in communication through lines 23, 25 with the working chamber 5 and the inlet to the motor 18. Non-return valves 24, 26 in the lines 23, 25 operate to prevent the occurrence of very high or low-pressure in the chamber 5 when, during changeover, the valve 13 isolates the chamber 5 from both the pump 10 and the reservoir 9. The return motion of the piston may be effected by a spring (106), Fig. 7 (not shown), instead of by fluid-pressure.
