1409020 Fluent fuel fired tunnel furnace MOSKOVSKY ORDENA LENINA I ORDENA TRUDOVOGO KRASNOGO ZNAMENI KHIMIKO-TEKHNOLOGICHESKY INSTITUT IMENI D I MENDELEEVA 7 June 1973 27132/73 Heading F4B A tunnel kiln for firing carbon articles on a travelling hearth comprises vortex-type combustion chambers 3 having air-fuel mixture inlet ducts 5. Fuel and air are supplied from inlets III, IV to the ducts 5 through injectors 6, ducts 7 being provided between the tunnel 1 and ducts 5. Combustion products II from the tunnel 1 and air from the inlet I pass into the duct 5 through the ducts 7 under the control of dampers 9. Combustion products V and cooling air VI pass to a discharge outlet under the action of a draught-reducing device 11. An atomizer 12 supplies a stream VII of finely dispersed water or steam.
