Abstract

1,034,213. Fluid fuel combustion chambers. S. GHELFI. Feb. 28, 1964 [Feb. 28, 1963], No. 8501/64. Heading F4B. [Also in Division F1] Gaseous or liquid fuel and a fluid for atomizing the fuel are injected into a chamber 22 of a burner and pass, together with air from pipes 20, 21 into a combustion chamber 13 by way of an opening 15 in a refractory wall 14. Combustion products flowing through combustion chamber outlet 12 mix with air from a jacket 18 and heat an axially adjustable impactor member 5 which acts to burn solid particles entrained in the combustion gases. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the wall 14 is provided with either a ring of angularly-spaced openings or an annular opening around opening 15 for supply air to the combustion chamber. More than one burner may be provided.
