Abstract
1,064,761. Feeding pulverulent fuel. POLYSIUS G.m.b.H. Aug. 4, 1964, No. 31617/64. Heading F4B. Pulverulent fuel from a pulverizer 2 is fed by a weigh feeder and a pocket valve 8 to the inlet duct of a cyclone separator 10. The gas outlet of the separator is connected to a fan 14, and the separated fuel is fed into duct 15 on the pressure side of the fan 14 through a pocket valve. The casing of the valve is connected to the inlet of the fan 14 to prevent leakage of air from the duct 15 through the valve, and the speed of the fan and the size of its outlet are so controlled that not more than 9% of the total air requirement for combustion is fed as primary air, and the air and fuel are delivered from the burner mouth at a speed of 70 m/s.
