Abstract

1402914 Semi-trailer drives M MOREAU 24 May 1972 [3 June 1971] 24520/72 Heading B7H The rear axles of a semi-trailer driven by a road tractor are rendered tractive by auxiliary hydraulic motors 8 controlled by a pump 11 driven by the driving source 1 of the tractor and a hand controlled distributer 17 allows the hydraulic motors to operate both in rear and forward running. As shown each of channels 9, 10 acts as a feed for forward and reverse running respectively. A by-pass channel 24 having regulating valves 25 provides an auxiliary feeding of the main circuit in the event of overrun of the motors. The motors 8 may be coupled to the wheels by gear rings and pinions or may be mounted on a transfer-box 19 driving a conventional differential gear.
