1488324 Resectoscope RICHARD WOLF GmbH 18 Dec 1975 [20 Dec 1974] 51940/75 Heading A5R A resectoscope has an outer barrel 1 angled at its distal end to provide a forceps jaw 3, a guide tube 2 secured within the outer barrel and connected to one limb 10 of a scissors grip, and an inner tube 4 also angled at one end to form the other forceps jaw 5 and secured at its other end to the other scissors limb 11, the jaws each having insulating ends 6, 7 with a cutting loop 27 projecting from jaw 6. An optical system passes through the inner tube, is sealed at the proximal end by a part 23 and forms with the inner tube an annular passage through which irrigation liquid passes from cocks 15, the liquid being diverted by an annular deflector through a bore 32 in the inner tube and through a passage in forceps jaw 5 which terminates in a projection 31 used to clear the centre of the loop 27 when the jaws are closed. The scissor limbs are each connected by a bridge piece 17 to a screw 16 to provide equal movement thereof, and the screw also provides a lock between a turned part 14 which carries the cocks 15 and a shoulder 13 of limb 11, to which the inner tube is releasably connected by a screw 12. The guide tube and outer tube are respectively soldered to limb 10 and a turned part 8 separated by an insulating part 9, 1, 2, 8, 9 and 10 forming a rigid unit A parabolic bulge at one side of the outer barrel holds a guide tube 25 for an electrode 26 connected at one end with the cutting loop and at the other end being connected to an HF connection 29 by a clamping screw 28.
