Abstract

1485668 Fastening railway rails to sleepers PORTEC Inc 28 April 1975 [13 June 1974] 17598/75 Heading E1G In a rail fastening said to resist longitudinal rail creep a blade spring 1 having an inner end bearing on the rail flange and a downturned outer end 24 bearing against the sleeper is located between upstanding side walls 6, 6 of an anchorage block 2 and is pressed down by a cross pin 26 engaging the side walls. As shown the cross pin 26 is driven through holes 11 in the side walls 6 and seats against an arcuate surface on an integral bridge 9 of the block 2. The inner end of the spring 1 is upturned and bears on an insulation-coated L-section gauge block 18 located in a notch of the anchorage block, while the downturned outer spring end 24 seats in a groove 23 of the block 2. In a modification using a longer blade spring engaged off-centre by a cross pin in a laterally displaced anchorage block the outer spring end seats in a groove (23') of a separate sleeper-embedded block. The anchorages may be modified for wooden or plastics sleepers.
