Abstract

1278388 Fastening railway rails to sleepers PANDROL Ltd 2 Dec 1970 57358/70 Heading E1G A sheet metal anchoring hoop, suitable for casting into a concrete sleeper to provide an upstanding shoulder 3 and arch 5 for a torsion-rod rail fastening clip as in Specification Nos. 1059190 and 1047989, has a pressed-out or welded-on projection 1 extending sideways from at least one of its legs to locate the hoop in the casting mould. The hoop shown is formed from the blank shown in Fig. 3 with the projection 1 on the outside of the leg 2, and has the projection tip flush with the sleeper surface, the sleeper being cast upside down. In a modification the blank has a projection on each of its legs 4 and is so bent that the shoulder 3 is remote from the legs 4.
