Abstract

1482787 Electric connectors COMPAGNIE INDUSTRIELLE DES TELECOMMUNICATIONS CIT-ALCATEL 17 Dec 1974 [19 Dec 1973] 54540/74 Heading H2E [Also in Division E2] A housing suitable for an electric connector comprises a base 10 and a removable flexible hood 1, with first and second co-operating locking means, such that movement of the hood in a first direction towards the base effects engagement of the first locking means and subsequent movement in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction effects locking of the first means and resilient latching of the second means in a direction perpendicular to the second direction. The hood 1 is a resilient moulding with an open end 5 flanked by two catches 4 and a keyhole-shape port 11 in its top 2 which engage windows 18 and a pin or a screw 21 respectively in tabs 16, 17 on the base. A flanged 7, opening 6 in the hood permits entry of a cable for connection to terminals 9. The side walls 14 are reduced in thickness to increase resilience adjacent their lower edges which rest on channels 15. A cable-clamp (19) is fastened to the tab 16, while a handle 23 enables the hood and base to be unplugged together from for example a mating connector (not shown).
