Abstract
1480078 Electric cable SCHWEIZERISCHE ISOLA-WERKE 13 Dec 1974 [18 Dec 1973] 54047/74 Heading H1A An electric cable comprises conductors 1 surrounded by a plastics casing 3 in which is embedded a traction relief member 4 consisting of warp (5) and weft (6) elements (Fig. 2, not shown), woven into a sheath which consists at least partly of electrically conducting or semiconducting elements. In one embodiment all the weft elements and at least one warp element are electrically conducting or semi-conducting, the remainder of the warp elements being non- conducting plastics or glass. The conducting or semi-conducting elements may be wires, strands, bands or threads or have a non-conducting centre, with a metal surround (Figs. 4 and 5, not shown) of metal-lined paper or metal-lined plastics foil. The cable may also have an insulating inner casing 2. Various combinations of conducting, semi-conducting and non-conducting elements are given.
