Abstract

1479749 Electrostatographic fusing XEROX CORP 19 Nov 1974 [26 Dec 1973] 49974/74 Heading G2H A heat/pressure roll fusing apparatus includes means 45 for applying offset-preventing liquid to the surface 22 of heated fuser roll 16. The applying means 45 which is spring-biased against roll 16 comprises an applicator roll 52 which is rotatably driven in a pan 52 to pick up liquid 51 and convey it to a wick assembly 48. A smoothing baffle 75 with a plurality of helical ridges on its inner surface is provided adjacent applicator roll 52. A deformable back-up roll 18 forms a nip with fuser roll 16. Suitable materials for the rolls 16, 18, 52 and the baffle 75 are given. The offset-preventing liquid is preferably silicone oil.
