Abstract

1468111 Thiophene sulphonamides PFIZER Ltd 8 Jan 1976 [10 Jan 1975] 1072/75 Heading C2C Novel compounds (I) (including alkali metal salts thereof) wherein Ar represents a mono- or bi-cyolic carbocyclic aromatic group or a 2-, 3-, or 4-pyridyl group, said mono- or bi-cyclic carbocyclic aromatic group being optionally substituted by halogen, -S (lower alkyl), -SO 2 (lower alkyl) or -SO 2 N (lower alkyl) 2 , and said 2-, 3- or 4- pyridyl group being optionally substituted by halogen; R<SP>1</SP> represents hydrogen or halogen; and X represents -CH 2 - or -CO-; are made from corresponding sulphochlorides; if desired, compounds (I) where X is CH 2 are converted to compounds (I) where X is CO. Pharmaceutical preparations having cerebral vasodilator action contain (I) as active ingredient. Administration is orally or parenterally.
