Abstract
1468108 Clothing for animals FARMLAND PRODUCTS (NZ) Ltd 10 Oct 1975 [10 Oct 1974 2 May 1975] 41652/75. Heading A1M Protective covers, particularly for lambs, are made from a long strip of plastics film folded longitudinally in half along a line 1 to form two plies, divided into individual covers by curved transverse lines of perforations 11 stopping short of the fold line 1 to leave a web 6, and -having pairs of holes 3, 4 near the free edges of the sheet to accommodate a lamb's legs. The plies are heat sealed together at 9 so that when the covers are detached from the strip a gap for the lamb's head is provided between the seal and the fold line 1. To form the covers, the folded strip is fed intermittently past a work station 15 from a roll 12 by pinch rollers 14 to a take-up roll 13. The work station 15 has a reciprocating platen 19 carrying rotating blades 21 which form the pairs of holes 3, 4, a perforating circular blade 27 mounted on a pivotal arm 26 and forming the transverse perforations 11, and a heated element 28 forming the seals 9. Plungers 23 mounted concentrically within the rotating blades 21 are operable to push the circular offcuts from the holes 3, 4 through openings 24 in a stationary support surface 20.
