Abstract

1470431 Making carrier bags G OESTERGAARD [trading as VEJLE PLASTIC] 5 April 1974 [6 April 1973] 15254/74 Addition to 1414457 Heading B5D [Also in Division B8] The method or machine of the parent Specification for applying single pieces or labels, e.g. hand-hole reinforcements 18, to a moving web 2, is modified in that a strip 56 is supplied to the cylindrical surface of a rotatable roller 32 extending transversely of the web 2, and, after a knife 50 has cut a label 18 from the strip 56, the label is transferred to the web by moving the roller into contact with the web, rotating the roller with a circumferential velocity corresponding to the advance velocity of the web so as to roll the label on to the web, and thereafter moving the roller away from the web when the label is entirely or partially transferred to the web. The rotation of the roller is stopped when the next label thereon has reached the position from which it is ready to be applied to the web after this has advanced a further bag length. The label may be secured on to the web using a pressure roller. The means for moving the roller towards and away from the web and for rotating it are as in the parent Specification.
