Abstract

1463809 Isocyanate based polymers IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 25 April 1974 [8 May 1973] 21828/73 Heading C3R Polymers, particularly polyurethanes, are prepared by reacting an organic polyisocyanate with an isocyanate-reactive material in the presence of a mono-substituted urea of the formula wherein R represents an organic residue. Suitable ureas are monoethyl urea, tert-butylurea, cyclohexyl urea, hexamethylene bis urea, tolylene bis ureas, 3-(n-butoxy)propyl urea, 3 - (methylmercapto)propylurea, imino bis- (ethylene urea) and oxybis-(propylene urea). The ureas, which are said to catalyse the isocyanate/reactive hydrogen reaction may be used in amounts of 0À01 to 5% based on the weight of polyol when the latter is used as the isocyanate-reactive material.
