Abstract

1311095 Alkylene oxide-ortho-tolylene diamine adducts IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 25 March 1970 [9 April 1969] 18214/69 Heading C2C [Also in Division C3] The invention comprises a polyol compos ition containing from 10 to 100% by weight of (a) a polyol of the formula where n is 0 or 1, a, b, c, d are integers, the sum of which is at least 5, and R is an alkylene radical containing at least two carbon atoms and from 90 to 0% by weight of (b) another polyol which is the reaction product of an alkylene oxide and a compound containing a plurality of active hydrogen atoms. They are prepared by reacting a composition containing the desired amount of an ortho-tolylene diamine with an appropriate amount of one or more alkylene oxides. The composition to be reacted may contain 2, 4 and/or 2,6-tolylene diamine, glycerol or triethanolamine. The polyol composition may be reacted with an organic polyisocyanate, e.g. tolylene diisocyanate or methylene bis- or polyphenylisocyanates, to form polyurethane compositions.
