Abstract

1461570 Deburring workpieces HAWKER SIDDELEY AVIATION Ltd 16 April 1974 [13 April 1973] 17999/73 Heading B3D A method of deburring sheet metal components 9 to radius sharp edges on the components comprises passing the components beneath, and in predetermined contact with, a pair of contra-rotating abrasive cylindrical brushes 1, each brush being reciprocated in the direction of its axis. The brushes are mounted on axles 2 supported in cradles 3. Motors 4 are connected by chain drives 5 to the axles to rotate the brushes in opposite directions and to reciprocate the brushes in the direction of the axles. The cradles are movable about pivots 7 to effect lengthwise adjustment of the brushes in accordance with the thickness of the components 9 which are located by pins 10 on a platen 8 movable on rollers beneath the brushes. At least two platens may be provided so that while one is carrying the components beneath the brushes, the other can be moved laterally on rollers 12 of a support 13 for loading and unloading.
