Abstract

1363309 Grinding BENDIX CORP 16 Nov 1971 [16 Nov 1970] 53218/71 Heading B3D An apparatus for grinding partially spherical surfaces comprises a rotary grinding wheel 20 having a groove 26 of part-circular section, and a workholder 30 for rotating a workpiece 32 in contact with the groove 26 about an axis skewed with respect to that of the wheel 20. The wheel is encased in a housing 18, 22 and driven by a motor 16, lubricant being supplied through a nozzle 38, and the work-holder 30 is driven by a motor 28, pivotably mounted on a traversing support 34.
