Abstract

1461298 Solid fuel stoves FUEL RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF SOUTH AFRICA 20 June 1974 [25 June 1973] 27458/74 Heading F4W A solid fuel heating appliance has a grate 4 and aperture 8 for the supply of primary and secondary air. The primary air 13 is controlled by the slots in the baffle 16 and secondary air by the gap 15. The openings for the access of primary air and the openings for the access of secondary air have cross-sectional areas in a ratio between 1 to 4 and 1 to 1 respectively. A turbulent combustion zone is formed by a slot shaped throat 21 that leads to the stack 3. A front hood is fitted comprising a door 18 hinged at 19 and fitted with a transparent window. A heat exchanger (not shown), supplied with cold air from the inlet 22 may be fitted above the throat 21 with heated air emerging through the grill 25.
