Abstract
1454378 Coating glass PPG INDUSTRIES Inc 10 Dec 1973 [15 Dec 1972] 57070/73 Heading C1M In a method of coating glass by directing a pyrolysable metallo-organic compound on to the substrate, a stream of carrier gas heated by heaters 29 is directed into a chamber 14 into which is also directed a spray of the compound dissolved in a solvent which is at a temperature lower than that of the carrier gas. The compound is vaporized by the heat of the carrier gas and the mixture directed on to the glass substrate. The carrier gas is preferably air. The method may be used to coat a glass ribbon when it is between a float tank and an annealing lehr. A coating solution comprising iron acetylacetonate, chromium acetylacetonate, cobalt acetylacetonate and methylene chloride is disclosed.
