Abstract
1447739 Knitting machines; blending fibres SCHUBERT & SALZER MASCHINENFABRIK AG 13 May 1974 [12 May 1973] 21096/74 Headings D1C and D1F Apparatus for selecting operating elements in a textile machine (e.g. needle control jacks 15 in a circular knitting machine or elements in a blending bale gripper for preparing rovings) comprises a rotary support means 23, 51 which carries selector elements 26, 91 for action on the operating elements, a rotary selector element store 47, 9 and a transfer position 6 at the point of rolling contact or the point of closest approach of the support means and store at which the elements 26, 91 are selectively transferred from the store to the support means under the action of a magnet 71, 72, or other means. The support means and stores are constructed as permanent or electro-magnets of opposite polarity and the magnet 71 may be permanent or an electromagnet. The electromagnets 72 in the Fig. 2 embodiment are supplemented by a further magnet 73 or pole-piece 74 to ensure straightline travel of the elements 91. Instead of having magnetic transfer means at position 6, hydraulic or pneumatic means may be used.
