Abstract

1361621 Knitting machines BENTLEY ENG CO Ltd 30 May 1972 [19 June 1971] 28888/71 Heading D1C In a single cylinder circular knitting machine the yarn feeders, mounted on feeder holders at each knitting station may be moved away from the needles individually or all simultaneously, pneumatically or electrically. Compressed air in a pipe 35 moves a piston and rod 31 attached to a holder 19 causing the holder to pivot about a bolt 18 thus lifting the group of feeder arms 20. Each feeder arm has a toe 22 which follows a cam in a cam stack 23. An air valve (Figs. 4, 5, not shown) may control the air inlet to the pipe 35 which is common to all the pistons, or a group of valves (Figs. 6, 7, not shown) may control the pistons individually. In a modification a solenoid may replace each air piston, and electrical switching is used to control movements of the feeders.
