1447034 Conveying solids in liquids SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ BV 3 Sept 1973 [1 August 1972] 35867/72 Heading F1R Coal is transported in a pipeline as a coal/water mixture comprising a viscous slurry, comprising up to 50% by volume of the liquid component, of particulate coal having a particle size below 500 Ám, and up to 50% by volume of the total slurry, of coal lumps having dimensions below 0.9 times the pipe diameter, at least 25 wt per cent of the lumps being agglomerates formed from particulate coal and bitumen-based or oil-based binder.
