Abstract
1388371 Selective flocculation SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ NV 14 April 1972 17304/72 Heading B2H [Also in Division C5] In a process for the separation of solids from contaminating material by selective agglomeration with a binding agent from a suspension of the finely divided solids mixture in a liquid, the suspension and binding agent are passed through a zone under conditions of turbulent flow, the formed agglomerates separated from the remaining suspension of contaminating material, and part of the separated agglomerates are ground and recirculated to the said zone. Between 10% and 50% of the formed agglomerates may be recirculated, the ground material having a particle size of 0.01 to 0.5 mm. An example describes the treatment of a mixture of coke and ash using bunker C oil as a binding agent.
