Abstract

1446420 Drying printed matter BRITISH UNITED SHOE MACHINERY CO Ltd 15 Nov 1973 [18 Nov 1972 and 15 March 1973] 53435/72 Heading B6C In a method of curing a coating of heatcurable ink on a surface of thermoformable material a pre-heat is applied whereby the coating is rendered non-smearable prior to bringing the coated material into surface contact with a heated presser member. The apparatus shown comprises a conveyer 20 which moves upper shoe components of P.V.C. plastisol coated with an inked design of the same material through a first heating station 14, a second heating station, 16 and a cooler 18. The station 14 incorporates ceramic heater elements whilst the station 16 has a heated cylinder 46 forming a bite with a presser roller 48 the hot cylinder being resiliently and adjustably mounted, covered with a heat shield and having a 'mould' release agent applied thereto.
