Abstract

1336265 Drying webs FUJI PHOTO FILM CO 30 Dec 1971 [30 Dec 1970] 60827/71 Heading F4G [Also in Division B8] A travelling coated web of photographic material is supported and dried by air issuing from circular or elliptical apertures 101-104 &c. in a flat or part-cylindrical plate, the web having a width no greater than 1-5 m., the air maintaining a static air pressure of not less than 5 mm. H 2 0 between the web and the plate, the total area of the apertures being not more than 5% of the area of the plate, the apertures being dimensioned and disposed in accordance with the following conditions: (1) x = 70 to 110 degrees (2) # = - 20‹ ro 20‹ C. (3) 8 = 3 to 7 mm. (4) d/s = 1 to 3 (5) 13 p#l. The stagger e is chosen to ensure that the apertures are uniformly distributed across the plate when the area of the apertures is totalled along the web feeding direction A. The web may be coated on both sides. Sets of conditions are specified.
