Abstract
1334458 Heat exchanger tubes UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY 26 June 1972 [30 June 1971] 30623/71 Heading F4S A heat exchange tube, particularly for use as a condenser tube, has one or more helical grooves extending longitudinally along the tube bore, the tube having a helix ratio H of up to 3À0 and an indentation ratio 8 of up to 0À3, where H= helix lead/tube bore circumference and #= indentation depth/bore radius, both the tube bore measurements being made on the maximum diameter of the bore. The helical grooves may be formed by ball swaging, the grooves being arcuate in shape blending with the cylindrical face of the tube bore. The periphery of the tube may have a shape which is complementary to that of the bore, the tube then constituting a corrugated or wrinkled walled tube.
