Abstract

1,022,380. Tube joints. MANUFACTURE DE MACHINES DU HAUT-RHIN. Jan. 29, 1965 [Jan. 29, 1964], No. 4167/65. Heading F2G. A wire helix 2 is secured by the ends 2a, 2b thereof to tubes 1, 3, respectively, so that unscrewing movement of either tube causes the convolutions of the helix to expand radially into progressively increasing frictional engagement with the tube 3 to lock the latter on the tube 1. As shown, the tubes have spiral grooves la, 3a and are screwed together. In a modification, the ratio of the diameters of the tubes is 1: 2 or more so that there is limited contact between the spiral and the tubes.
