Abstract
1333183 Casting ingot moulds KONINKLIJKE NEDERLANDSCHE HOOGOVENS EN STAALFABRIEKEN NV 3 May 1971 [4 May 1970] 12704/71 Heading B3F A mould for casting an ingot mould has a base member 1 supporting a core 3 and about the core 3 a plurality of cast iron mould parts 8, 8a, 8b, 8c, 8d. The parts 8 extend the full height of the ingot mould to be cast and are shaped along their vertical joining edges 5 (see Fig. 2) to allow pivoting movement when clamped together. The base member 1 is made of metal but has a sand facing 2 and the sand core 3 is held to the base by a plate 6 screwed down on a rod 5. The parts 8a, 8b, 8c, 8d are held in a frame of steel rods 12, 13 which are wedged together at 14. As an alternative, the parts 8a, 8b, 8c, 8d can be held together by pins through their joining edges, the pins being provided with wedges for locking.
