Abstract
1329645 Sewing machines CSEPELI KEREKPAR-ES VARROGEPGYAR 18 May 1971 [20 May 1970] 15408/71 Heading D1G [Also in Division F2] A driving and stopping mechanism in a sewing machine, for successively providing a higher speed drive, a lower speed drive and stopping the machine, comprises two pulleys 2, 3 secured to the shaft of a motor 1 and coupled by belts to two pulleys 9, 5 disposed on and coupleable selectively to a driven shaft 4 by a dutch member 8 having a cam groove 15 with a cam surface on the right hand side and an abutment at the end which are engageable by a stop 11 to respectively first displace the clutch member 8 to the right to disconnect the slower drive and then to stop the driven shaft 4. The mechanism is controlled by a pivoted member 12 having an arm 14 with steps engageable by a lever 13, a slot engaged by one end of a bellcrank lever 10, the other end of which slides the pulley 9 axially on the shaft 4. The stop 11 is slidable in the member 12, a spring 16 being provided to absorb the shock of engagement of the stop with the abutment. In operation when the outermost step of the arm 14 is engaged by the lever 13, the shaft 4 is stopped. On pivoting the member 12 so that the lever 13 engages the middle step, the bellcrank 10 pivots to. permit the radial flange of the clutch part 8 to engage the part 6 of the pulley 5 to transmit the slower drive therethrough, the spring 7 providing the pressure on the friction faces. On pivoting the member 12 so that the lever 13 engages the innermost step the bellcrank 10 pushes the pulley 9 so that its friction surface engages the clutch part 8 to provide the faster drive, and to push the radial flange of the clutch part 8 from the part 6.
