Abstract

1321568 Dispensing apparatus; automatic analysis H NOLL 26 Oct 1971 [26 Oct 1970] 49596/71 Heading B1X Apparatus for dispensing precise volumes of liquids or gels comprises a dispensing conduit connectable to a liquid or gel reservoir and terminating in a dispensing tip; means adjacent at least a segment of the conduit and providing a passageway therealong; and flushing means communicating with said passageway for delivering a flushing liquid thereinto responsive to a pre-determined signal, whereby the flushing liquid rinses from the dispensing tip any liquid or gel collected externally thereon to complete the volume of liquid or gel dispensed. The flushing liquid may contain further reagents. As shown, the liquid to be dispensed is metered via nozzle 24, and rinsing fluid is supplied via inlet 42 so as to surround and rinse the nozzles.
