Abstract

1,272,227. Injecting gas into liquid. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 13 Nov., 1969 [19 Nov., 1968], No. 54798/68. Heading B1C. A gas is injected into a liquid by means of a pipe terminating in a venturiform nozzle in which there is no fluid inlet in the immediate region of the nozzle. The effect is to form a jet which leaves the nozzle in the form of an expanding cone which induces streamlines, non-turbulent co-current flow in the liquid through which the jet is passing. The device may be used to pass air or an air/ethylene mixture into water at rates of 10-100 l/sec.
