Abstract
1316119 Finned heat eaehangers ASSOCIATED ENG Ltd 1 Oct 1970 [10 Oct 1969] 49972/69 Heading F4S In tubular heat exhangers of the plate-fin type, Fig. 1, where the tubes 12 are arranged in rows and extend through a plurality of transverse fins 11, or of the corrugated-fin type, Fig. 4, where corrugated or undulated fin strip 22 extends between and in contact with flat-sided tubes 21 also arranged in rows (see Fig. 3), the fin density (f) per inch is between 4 and 25, the fin depth (d) in inches is between 0À5 and 6, the fin height (h) in inches is between 0À15 and 1, and r = the number of rows of tubes; and the value (f/d¸d/h) x r in the case of plate-fin type heat exchangers is greater than 10; and the value (f/d)ÎhÎf in the case of corrugated-fin type heat exchangers is greater than 70. Detailed examples are given. The fins may be provided with louvres or dimples.
