Abstract

1309925 Licker-in casing TOYODA JIDOSHOKKI SEISAKUSHO KK 19 May 1070 [20 May 1969 22 Oct 1969] 24080/70 Heading D1N The takerin roller 3 of a carding machine is provided with an undercasing 1 for a portion of its underside, the casing having a smooth continuous surface and being without slits or apertures facing the takerin roller. Further, the takerin is associated with a feed roller 5 and a dish plate 2 forming the feeding part of the card. The takerin roller is provided with a cover 6 so that short fibres can be sucked away from the rollers. In an alternative embodiment (Fig. 3) the fibres sucked away from the takerin roller can be passed through an internally screened rotating perforated roller. Normal length fibres are returned to the takerin by the drum. The apparatus enables the air pressure around the taker-in roller and waste fibres to be controlled.
