Abstract

The segments 12 bear against an electrically insulating ring 4 or a metal ring 9 which in turn bears against the insulating ring. The flanges 14, 15 are separated by an electrically insulating ring 3 and are sealed by rings 5, 6. The segments 12 are moved outwardly by a screw tool engaging a hole in each segment or by axially driving wedges between the segments 12 and the pipe end 2, and after clamping, electrically insulating material 8, e.g. epoxy resin is poured into a space 8 between the extension 16 and flange 15; also similar material 10 is poured into the space surrounded by the rings 4, 9, and segments 12, or an annulus is inserted in this space. Finally electrically insulating material 11 is poured over the joint.
