1,185,766. Pipe joints. EMERJY S.A. 6 Aug., 1968, No. 37405/68. Heading F2G. A connector for joining a pipe 2 to a piece of apparatus 5, e.g. a pump, or to a collar on another pipe comprises an externally tapered elastic packing ring 1 having an inwardly projecting rib 13 on which the end of the pipe seats, the assembly being clamped by a conical ring 3 secured by bolts 4. The packing has circular grooves (14, 15) in its inner circumference and at its end face (see Fig. 1, not shown). The element 5 may be a ring joining two pipes using a clamp and packing on each one.
