Abstract
1300090 Soldering JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd 13 April 1970 [15 May 1969] 24747/69 Heading B3R A gas gun of the type adapted to provide a stream of hot gas which may be used e.g. to solder semiconductor devices to printed circuits comprises a tube 11, an electrical heating coil surrounding the tube so as to heat the gas passing therethrough, and a baffle 16 in the tube in the form of a rod having three or more axially directed grooves 17, 18, 19 arranged so that the gas flows down the first groove 17, back along the second 18 and so on until it finally issues at a nozzle 13. The gas may be a mixture comprising 90% nitrogen and 10% hydrogen. The tube 11 may be of alloy known under the Registered Trade Marks "Nimonic" or "Incaloy", and the baffle 16, nozzle 13 and outer casing 14 of stainless steel. Reference is made to a baffle rod having eleven grooves.
