Abstract

A high-frequency torch discharge generator comprises an aluminium-electrode 1 on a watercooled support 2 surrounded by a tube 4 having an inlet 6 for a discharge-maintaining gas, e.g. nitrogen, and connected to a high-frequency power source 3. Solids in powder form or liquids in mist form may be supplied to the inlet 6 or to a separate inlet for spectroscopic analysis.
