Abstract

1399180 Wall-mounted gas-fired water heaters COMPANIA ROCA-RADIADORES SA 28 June 1973 30831/73 Heading F4A A gas.fired water heater comprises a base plate 1 for wall mounting, gas burners 17 having venturis housed within the diffusing chambers to save space, heat exchange elements 8, 9, 10 in the form of cast iron hollow plate assemblies which receive the water to be heated and which fit together at lateral flanges 12 to define gas passages 13, and a draught shield 24 having an inlet 25, an outlet 26, and a plate 27 which diverts gases to a diversion 28 provided with an outlet 29. The heat exchange elements, which have heat conducting projections 14, receive water from inlet 6 via a pump 7, and deliver hot water at outlet 5. A sheet metal casing comprising sides 46 and a front 47 is secured to brackets 43, 44. The burner gas supply is controlled by two valves: 33 and 34 which operate in response to a room thermostat, and a heat exchanger thermostat respectively. A bulb 36 immersed in one of the heat exchange elements acts via a control device 35 on the valve 33 and a pilot burner 38 is provided with a thermocouple 40 which acts via a conductor 39 to turn off the valve 33 should the pilot light be extinguished. The burners are ignited by a spark plug 41 energized by a piezo-electric igniter 42. (For Figures see next page.)
