Abstract
1399021 Altering physical properties NORANDA MINES Ltd 31 May 1972 [20 Aug 1971] 25505/72 Heading B3V A ternary or quaternary alloy of zinc and aluminium, which is capable of showing superplasticity and which has a eutectoid, is hot worked without any associated prior heat treatment, at a temperature between 205‹ C. and the eutectoid temperature of the alloy. The alloys are hot worked either by rolling, preferably to a reduction in thickness of from 90-95%, or extrusion. The alloy may be drawn after extrusion. As exemplified the third alloying constituent of the ternary zinc-aluminium alloy is copper or magnesium and the third and fourth alloying constituents of the quaternary zincaluminium alloy are copper and magnesium.
