Abstract
1297101 Altering physical properties IMPERIAL SMELTING CORP (ALLOYS) Ltd 18 Dec 1970 [1 Jan 1970] 29/70 Heading B3V [Also in Division C7] An alloy containing 18-40% by weight of Al, balance Zn, apart possibly for minor amounts of a ternary alloying component (e.g. Cu, Mg) is homogenized at a temperature within the single phase region, cooled to below 275‹ C. at a rate not exceeding 10‹ C./min., and worked to a reduction of at least 90%, at least half of the reduction being effected below 275‹ C. and all of it above 200‹ C. The cooling may be to less than 200‹ C, followed by reheating for working, while additional working may be carried out below 200‹ C.
